I have read in other places that there will be a second season of the show. But I have not heard when.

I too found the host to be, well, waaayyy too much like a few railfans I have known. However, there are people active on various boards who know him, and all of them say that he is in reality a very laid back guy and is in person nothing like the fringe lunatic he comes across on the show, and he has actually been hurt a little bit by the treatment he received on the various railfan boards.

The bottom line is that this show was not really aimed at railfans, but in typical History channel fashion they went overboard with a lot of things. Especially the danger/what could go wrong parts of the stories.
