One expects to slow down for a junction, especially with tracks that are a bit more crowded than the Bypass will be. Unless there's a station stop very close by, though, having a 30 mph S-curve in what's otherwise 79 mph track speed is in fact an interruption and potential bottleneck. Yes, it's been there forever. Yes, it's not a safety problem if following the rules. But if/when the highway is improved it would be a good idea to improve the bridge alignment as well.
