Union Pacific's system tie gang is in action near Aristuc Siding (east Phoenix), AZ on January 5th, 2009. UP has spent hundreds of millions of dollars over the past decade improving Arizona's physical plant, but with the double-tracking on the Sunset Route slowing due to the economy, crews have been able to spend some time tending to the long neglected Phoenix mainline between Phoenix and Picacho Jct. One official mentioned that the UP's Phoenix Line hasnt looked this good in over 20 years!
