• Now follow the public street going north from the locomotive facility. The most prominent east-west cross street is West 7th Street. On the
north side of it between Cedar Street on the east and Bay Street on the west, you'll see the roofs of two interconnected buildings that form an inverted T. SP purchased this property and remodeled/converted it into the replacement System MofW Shop, and had a rail spur coming off the Cedar Street Lead. (As trivia, the Cedar Street was part of the original main line before it was relocated to the big arc to the west.) All this area was acquired by Coltrane in the early 1990's and was used for the right-of-way for the new I-880 freeway and the new main lines.
• To the
west of the OLD shop is the PMT auto dock, while to the
south of it, the rectangular building with the white roof is PMT's LCL/LTL transloading dock and warehouse - both long gone.
