During the labor negotiations between the city of SF
and its labor unions last year when the economy was very strong
an arbitrator ruled that the city could delay pay raises for six months if the city had more than a $200 million dollar deficit so this year’s July 1st pay raise was delayed until January
1st 2021
Pay raises for January and July of 2021 and 2022 are also delayed for six months saving the city millions of dollars in salary
The city still has a billion dollar “rainy day “ budget surplus
Despite that Mayor Breed asked city workers to give up 2020 and 2021 pay raises “until better times” but we declined and insist the city meet its contract Hal obligations.
