Way back in the 80's, my friend and I "acquired" a switch stand that was lying in the weeds beside the SP main right about where the plant trackage joined the main on the south end. We hauled it to his house where it was cleaned and painted and stood in his garage. Some years later, his mother asked me to come get it. That switch stand, which was likely the derail stand to protect the SP main from errant cars in the plant, is now operating the yard lead switch on the Niles Canyon Railway at Brightside.
