Coos Bay Branch Line Coutdown

Time is short and the cutoff date for completion of the transaction to purchase the Coos Bay Rail Line is a little more than a month away.
Martin Callery, Director of Communications and Freight Mobility with the International Port of Coos Bay say they are ready, and have all the financing in place in order to purchase the line by the February 18th deadline.
The Surface Transportation Board set the price to buy the 111 mile rail line that runs from Eugene to North Bend at 16.6 million dollars.
The Port has filed a price challenge to lower the purchase price down to 8 million dollars.
However the Port is on the hook for the entire 16.6 million dollar purchase as the STB is not expected to make a final ruling on the request until the end of February.
