While it may well have been known to employees as 'Hanlon's Lead' prior to the implementation of SPINS in 1966 when all industrial leads, run-arounds, storage tracks and spurs were given official numbers, after that the lead between the freeway and the estuary that ran from the switch off the Work Lead just west of 5th Avenue all the way to Fruitvale was Track 1000, because all of that area became the 10 Zone. (Prior to SPINS, the area between the freeway and the estuary where the customers were from about 19th Ave to Fruitvale Ave was known to employees as "the Hole." The "Deep Hole" was the area along Alameda Ave and Tidewater.)
