Sparks Industrial Tracks

Sparks has never been known for a robust network of industrial lines it does (did) have a respectable amount. While most of the lines south of the yard and west of McCarran have not seen any activity in years (movement of the Silver Hostel was possibly the last activity) there has not been any movement to mothball or remove the tracks. Today I noticed differently. The westernmost grade crossing on Greg St is now posted tracks “out of service” and the cantilever signals all are turned towards the track. If anyone is interested openrailwaymap.org will give a great illustration of the Sparks industrial area
