Announcing release of two new Railroads of Montana books.
Well, actually the theme's are the Great Northern Railway's Kettle Falls Branch and the Spokane International Railway.

Below are descriptions of the books and links to order them.

The wait is over! First released in 2010, the first edition of this Kettle Falls book was available only in a DVD book landscape format, it was inconvenient for research; this 2021 edition has been reformatted into a portrait size softcover book. This 100-mile rail line ran north from Spokane first built to the Columbia River at Marcus to tap into the lucrative mining districts near the Washington/British Columbia borders. All aspects of the Kettle Falls Branch from Spokane to Chewelah are covered in this publication.

The Great Northern Railway’s Kettle Falls Branch – Spokane to Chewelah book is
a 166-page 8˝” x 11” portrait format softcover book containing over 235 B&W,50 maps, a comprehensive bibliography, employee interviews, reference section and index.

Find out on page 54 “Who Stole Denison?”

The next publication released is the Spokane International Railway - Modelers Notebook & Words of Larry Shawver - a 92-page 8˝” x 11” portrait format softcover book
containing fourteen Larry Shawver essays with over 100 photos to assist modelers.

These essays cover not only the history of the Spokane International, but also touch
much of the daily operations of the S.I. during the period of the 1920s thru 1940s.
I’m sure you will enjoy Larry Shawver and his many stories from an era long gone and checking out images of every class of steam engines, a photo of every Alco RS-1 and every caboose along with images of various rolling stock and structures.

Thanks in advance and talk to ya later,
Dale Jones

BTW: I'm working on a book for March 2012 release titled "The Great Northern Railway - The Essex Papers" highlighting railroad Lineups - Station Records - Train Orders from the Essex, Montana depot in Marias Pass during the late 1950s and 1960s along with many Great Northern photos.
