Looked at realistically, there's a very good chance of Mr. Biden being a 1-term president. Not a certainty, of course, but very good. If that happens, and if CN and whatever partner it's interested in (KCS? Though I think they would be a better match for CP) start lining up ducks now they'll be ready then. Takes a while to organize things with companies as big as continental-scale railroads (CN reaches all 3 coasts, but not (directly at least) MX).
