While spending several days in Hermiston last week I got some sightseeing in. Some of my observations were:
1) A pair of SD38s sat in the hump for at least three days—it does not appear they moved at all which just validated the hump is still closed
2) The rails from Rieth to Pilot Rock are rusted over and there were no rail cars in Pilot Rock. From the condition of the rails and the loadout areas it does not appear a center beam has been loaded in quite a while. This Branch may be dead
3) There no rail cars in Weston at the Smith Food Plant. The rails here were also rusted over. It may just be off season bit it appears it has been a while since a train went south of Milton-Freewater
