Actually, the FRA already has a role, as noted earlier in the thread which you may have missed. And, it is reported that they seem to be working cooperatively with the RR's, as CCTGM noted in his comments. Why would that be a good thing? Well, because, not every RR is BNSF, or a Sammie...
Would some of you trust your beloved "Guitar Man" to self regulate? And, liability isn't a problem some folks might worry about that much, if the company is a hollow shell, and there's nothing for any injured party to recover anyhow, is it?
