An article that points out the obvious.... I'll leave it to the rest of you to discuss Mouse's ferroequiphobia diagnoses... But, do read the article... Like Mouse, even Hasan is, as with the proverbial broken clock, also right at least twice a day....
This is a perfect example of the failure to meet our basic transportation "needs", while pissing away billions on the behind schedule, budget busting, fiasco, now being built from Wasco to Chowchilla, is a perfect example of what is wrong with California....
The preliminary planning for this was among the things on California's "local list" of "shovel ready" rail projects, that were submitted to Caltrans in 2009 for stimulus funding, and pulled by Schwarzenegger, when he instead asked only for the Federal funding request, for the "not at all shovel ready" CAHSRA fiasco in the Valley.
This project would also save 6 to 10 minutes running time, with a second main, and speeds going from averages of around 25 mph on the bluffs, to a 110 mph. grade seperated bypass... So, this is an example of where "need" and "speed" are not mutually exclusive....
