Sammie, I can almost guarantee you that the train was already in emergency and the engineer was ducking for cover long before the impact. Would you just sit in that seat with a dumptruck in front of you?

Once upon a time some lived by the adage thud before plug, but generally the jurys and judges take more kindly if the “emergency brake” was used as soon as possible.
