That map was a "what if" made by a railfan. Transportation Secretary Buttigieg made reference to it and boy was there a lot of conclusion jumping going on. Calm thyselves.

South Bend has a population of 102,136. That is what the US census calls a medium sized city, as it is over 50,000 in population. In German it is called a große Stadt, literally "big city", as it is over 100,000. So if you want to be accurate (instead of just calling him names) he is "medium sized city mayor Pete". Or you can go all Germanic and just call him "big city mayor Pete". Of course one is more accurate if one just calls him "former mayor Pete", or secretary Buttigieg, but as spelling is not some people's strong point I'm sure he would be happy with Secretary Pete.
