According to the Forbes Article linked, CP would have ... " about 20 BILLION Dollars ( U.S. ? ) in DEBT when the transaction is concluded. A serious chunk of money, especially if the economy remains stagnant. Also to be considered is that Railroads are generally frowned upon, due to low ROI and high operating ratios, by the firms issuing the debt.
