Yes, they sure did. When they first sent the piston rods out to be ground & finished, someone overlooked the stroke dimension, and how far in & out the pistons go into the cylinders. Thus, the surface of the piston rods was not sufficiently ground & finished throughout the full length of the stroke, and the unfinished areas on the piston rods quickly ate up the rod packing. Upon returning to Cheyenne, the piston rods were sent out to be reground & finished throughout their full stroke.
