So the burner in 4014 was "borrowed" from 3985 as well as the tender.
The "not so good" result of the 1950s 4000 class oil conversion was that the flame was not big enough to do the job.
On the other hand,
The 1990 oil conversion of 3985 was a win!
Is it possible that 1990 era burner put in 4014 is not quite enough to get the job done?
