The video brings up some interesting points about urban planning and the modern world.
Along came the Interstate Highway System, detached airports, the shopping mall and endless housing developments all premised on the internal combustion engine. You need GPS just to find an address, get something to eat or locate a public toilet. Time was not long ago the railroad depot determined where the hotel was, the post office, restaurants, the hardware store, even gas stations and the Greyhound Bus Depot. It brought order out of chaos. The most analogous thing today is the freeway offramp to a cluster of name brand motels, fast food joints and truck stop filling stations with a sign pointing to the nearby "town" 5 miles away. You don't just live in Tracy or Stockton but whatever developers name or ranch that your residential district happens to have been named after. The geographic name often has no "sense of place" except you might find the police station or "city hall" nearby>
