railroading from a money perspective

I was fascinated with the recent discussion on pool crews and their territories.I asked a lot of questions and learned a lot. It got me thinking about a subject that has not been discussed too often. Wages. Making money working for the railroad. Class 1's. Are train crews paid for mileage or time or both? What are the big money making runs on UP and BNSF. Do longer crew districts like Carlin NV. to Ogden UT pay more than say Roseville to Oakland? Is there a pay incentive to work at an away terminal? About how much money would you make in one 12 hour day? Do most guys with high seniority go after high paying runs? How much less would you make in yard or local runs.? What is the pay difference between an engineer and a conductor? Do BNSF train crews average more money than UP? It's kind of a touchy subject so thanks for any answers.
