Hickory striped shirts made by Key are still popular with farmers and loggers here in NE Washington. They wear like iron (or hickory...)

“Engineer’s Hats” were also popular with dairy farmers at one time. The soft brim allowed you to rest your head against her flank while milking. The transition to machine milking diminished the necessity of the the soft brim, and thus the hat fell out of style on dairy farms.
