And, I see that SANDAG has Linda Culp managing this planning, which will provide the high speed bypass to replace the original 1881, single track, 25 mph., rail line via the Del Mar bluffs. This map and article give a pretty good summary of the proposals that were evaluated.

This preferred route is, "ironically", almost exactly what was originally proposed shown to the "Godfather", Don Richardson, and I, by Nat Read and Carl Schurmeyer, at the Amercian High Speed Rail Corporaton, all the way back in 1980!!!!
