compensation...
Would it be cheapest and easiest to rebuild the railroad and mothball it??
Seems like a different band of lawyers stirring this pot than the ones who are going after SMART. I thought they might be the same bunch.
As an anecdote: I have heard that when you get letters saying, 'you may be entitled to compensation,' over such-and-such (medicine, asbestos, stock purchase), the payout is usually pennies.
Law firm in this case:
Quote:Meghan Largent, an attorney with Midwest-based law firm Lewis Rice, said property owners will not be able to get their land back but they may be entitled to financial compensation.
Adam Riley, an attorney with Midwest-based firm Flint Law Firm LLC, said landowners could make a claim for significant compensation.
Law firm suing SMART:
Quote:The plaintiffs are represented by Stewart, Wald and McCulley of Kansas City, Missouri and Sacramento-based firm Kershaw, Cook & Talley.
Stewart, Wald and McCulley specializes in bringing such cases against railroads across the nation, said Stewart, one of the partners. “There are 70 cases around the country pending right now and we probably have 50 of them in my office,” he said.
