The amount of work the turbine would have been doing would have been based on how many diesels in consist were cut-in and running. Suffice to say, they all performed work (force times distance) and got the train over the road. Turbines and diesels produced power to turn traction motors, end of the story.
In the case of present day steam operations, who cares. Steam is nothing more than an outmoded nuisance that causes delays, unnecessary foam (in more ways than one), and is about as welcome on the schedule as the Silver Slug: AmTrash.
