Yes. Removal will be very expensive nowadays. Back around 1985 I had a solution, but the powers that be turned it down from pressure by a local senior group. Back story is more complicated than that, but I will just say; best laid plans, ignorant of local politics, failed.
Glad that the refurbishment has happened. They raised so much money for it, back when I was working on it no one seemed to care and our budgets were usually under $100, although we did occasionally raise more than that, but nothing like what has been done in the past year. Back when I installed the semaphore (1978, I think), it cost me a fifth of Jack Daniels to the local SP signal crew. Can't do that kind of thing nowadays!
