The Siskiyou line has 3.3% grades and very restricted clearances--double stacks, autoracks, and Amtrak Superliners wouldn't clear certain tunnels. In fact, back in the day UP cupola cabooses and taller woodchip cars weren't allowed.
While there might be a few detours via BNSF's Gateway Sub, I suspect the main route will be via Salt Lake/Ogden. I wonder if they'll be able to do that with "only" 72 hours' delay?
