After the Carr Fire and Delta Fire in 2018 UP did a lot of brush clearing along the ROW of the Valley Sub from Redding up through Lakehead. It from the looks of it, I suspect they brought a tractor with a brush grinder in and ground up everything but the largest trees. I'm not sure that they covered every foot of the line, but they did clear brush on quite a bit of it.

The foreground to the left in this shot had previously been all manzanita and smaller trees. Hopefully these practices will continue in the future as it provides good protection for the ROW in the case of another wild fire.

Best regards,
Matt
