Why not serve both RC and Palmdale? The main problem with Rancho Cucamonga is building the track - despite having 4 tracks through Cajon, there's really no track & time for more passenger service, even if the HSR trains could use those tracks. Palmdale would be a new track extension, but the MTA and has done a lot of the preliminary work for it already as part of the High Desert Corridor study.
