News media fired all their proofreaders and most of their editors at least 15 years ago. Stories are mostly produced offshore and translated from whatever local language is used by a local clone of Google Translate. Writer has never seen, nor even, usually, knows where the place is they're writing about.

Yes, I found it difficult to parse that Denver story and get any useful information from it. It *seems* that they're talking about ground conditions in downtown Denver being difficult to maintain (light rail) track in due to corrosive conditions.
