As of last week RM staff reported that the "station" locations at Moab and Denver are still undecided. Meanwhile, some digging turned up that one of our "nuclear agencies" (which one?)is interested that tourists products don't impact the uranium waste still in the soil beds, until every thing "hot" is buried north of the former DRGW mainline. Does anyone know if the dirty-dirt nuke trains are still running on the Cane Creek Branch, or if that remediation effort is 100% over? A similar matter may be holding up RM's Denver "station". Denver's transit agency owns DUT but in a much debated/protested action it has turned overseeing to an "alliance" of the renters--including the posh Crawford Hotel. In turn protesters claim that the lessees are over stepping their authority by banning persons not directly doing business with them from sitting in publicly-owned station. Travelers with tickets are ok, although though are no signs to that effect I read. Maybe RM and this "alliance" haven't figure out a "place" for them in RM plans and are still negotiation same down to the wire? (This reminds me how the Oscars took over 90%+/- of LA Union Station for the 93rd Oscars recently. Using LA METRO figures, about 2.2 million passengers were inconvenienced for a $900,000 fee to Metro. That makes each passenger's time worth only about 37 cents to Metro, even though the passenger own LA Union Station basically. Can anyone share further information about the current nuke dirty-dirt trains and/or the DUT issues? (Or for that matter on the Oscars @ Union Station "Public/Private Partnership?" PMs are okay.
