"seriously considered" electrification in 1945? The postwar era witnessed the absolute triumph of internal combustion. The same political power class that is now going ape over anti-carbon eco energy conversion is the same class that enthusiastically approved killing all electric rail and bus in the forties and fifties.

It is always the fad du jour.
