There were a number of other similar designs as discussed in the following link.
I suspect we'll not find anyone with experience aboard any of these two locomotives but one can't help wondering what it was like to sit inches from the horizontal radiator fan and traction motor blower on the U50. The U50C moved this equipment to the center of the carbody which certainly helped.
