What ended the Shasta Sunset Dinner Train?

I just watched a 2010 TV news report (below) on the last run of the Shasta Sunset Dinner Train.

In the story, the owner's daughter says business dropped off with the 2008 "great recession," so the family decided to end it. Is that the whole story?

Did McCloud Railway's financial problems have something to do with it, or perhaps someone's desire to cash out and retire? I thought the train was always quite popular and a real asset to the town.

Did most of the cars survive, or get scrapped? It was a nice train.

Youtube: KRCTV news report

"The Shasta Dinner Train took it's last tour around Mt. Shasta on Saturday night with full cars and a heavy heart. The train took guests for a dinner on the tracks for 13 years before the economy and early retirement forced them to shut up shop this past weekend"

"Jalene Forbis, whose father owns the train said the economy over the years has hurt their business like all other tourist based businesses. The Forbis family has put the train on the market for $5M and say they have had people express interest in buying the train and continuing the dinner tradition."

"The dinner train averages around 6,000 passengers a year and many local merchants say the train's presence will be missed."
