Ah, yes, but it seems the general public does not know about Streamline Moderne, and it gets lumped in with art deco. Our local Historic State Theatre opened in 1928 as an Art Deco Theatre, but was remodeled in 1934 to be Streamline Moderne. The Lobby has been restored to the 1934, but the entrance ceiling was restored to the 1928 Art Deco period, which make for some interesting comparisons--and it works! The Streamline Moderne mural on the staircase is highlighted on each side with the original Art Deco trim from the original mural (which is still buried under the "new" mural). The theatre went with the 1934 as that was what the community remembered, being in that finish from 1934 to about 1947.
