I have to laugh at "zero emissions" vehicles that are being promoted. The vehicle and parts have to be made which creates pollution/emissions. Batteries typically use some really nasty chemicals and metals, which have to be mined. And it has to be charged which takes electricity which has to be generated - and that power generation, regardless of source, creates emissions (including component manufacture) or an environmental impact one way or the other. And the longer that electricity has to be transferred from source to use also requires the materials for the power lines as well as their impact, not to mention transmission losses. Remember the Dixie Fire was likely started by a tree falling into a power line.

I don't deny global climate change and mankind's responsibility. But, a major volcanic eruption can just as easily modify the earth's weather. In geologic time, the little ice age wasn't that long ago. Yet for some reason we expect that the weather has to be within the exact same "average" it has in the last century or so.

The drought and heat have ben a large part of the cause, but you also have to consider over a century of heavy fire suppression, environmental restrictions on logging or controlled burns, and far more people living in the middle of the wildlands and forest areas as a huge portion of the equation.

What the average person thinks is a beautiful thick forest may work in some areas of high precipitation as long as the trees aren't in excess of their natural life, but in areas of low precipitation those thick forests are often two to four times more dense than can be supported during an extended drought.

This big blue marvel we live on seems to get smaller every day and we do need to take reasonable steps to take care of it.
