Dixie Fire - reports say grew by 100,000 acres yesterday which works out to 156 square miles. Total area just updated to 432,000+ acres (675+ square miles). The immediate town of Chester survived with minor damage so far. Fire blew up near the dam and is heading up the east shore which has many houses, cabins and the BNSF line.

The one fork of the fire is headed towards Robbers Creek and Westwood. As I recall, the railroad right of way was somewhat cleared fairly wide in that area so they might try using it as a fire break and back fire from it if weather cooperates. Cold front will make winds unpredictable today. Susanville (long abandoned SP line) could still be in trouble if explosive growth like yesterday is repeated. Quincy still holding on.

There is some good news - They seem to have gotten ahead of the River Fire north of Colfax that was reported against the UP and headed into long gone Nevada County Narrow Gauge territory. Southern Oregon's lightning caused Bootleg fire burning for a month now between Klamath Falls and Lakeview through the former Weyerhaeser (so?) Sycan Woods line has stalled at 400,000+ acres and they are getting it under control at the moment.
