Quote from article:
"This decision was not made lightly," UP spokesman Tim McMahan told Progressive Railroading. "Since acquiring the Railex assets in 2017, employees diligently worked to grow volumes and create a platform for the future; however, with COVID-19 impacting volume and truck prices, it is no longer sustainable to continue operations."
Did Covid really ruin it? I suspect a big company like UP isn't really tooled up for micro-managing a small-scale business like produce packing houses. That kind of thing is more the realm of a small business. Maybe UP's should stick to being a fat dumb and happy container hauler, and keep trying to squeeze blood from that turnip with PSR to delight the shareholders.
