You are so correct Craig about the rough ride on the UP 25800 CA11 cabooses. These were patterned from the MP "Shortie" cabooses in an effort to save money over the full carbody cupola style. The last Cupola cabooses were the Ca10's in 1974 and yes, all the UP cabooses rode like a passenger car until the CA11's showed up. The UP was forced to modify these Cabs including trucks and interior modifications including sound proofing which didn't work ! They called them a "modified CA11" but still rode like hell. The 25842 was modified as a prototype CA12 for the next order of cabooses that never came. When the Rock Island folded, the Cabooses that UP owned were returned. Those were great Cabooses ! I don't believe any are left in service
