I sort of jumped to a conclusion in my previous post. The scenes in which Elvis Presley first appears in the movie came well after the railroad scenes and I doubt his first scenes were shot in Soledad Canyon. They look more like the Newhall area (therefore, the fact Presley stayed at the Circle J Ranch as I previously wrote does not support a Soledad Canyon filming scenario. Just the railroad scenes do that).
