In the early 1990s, there were three regular jobs out of Emmett. There was a job that ran Mon-Wed-Fri to Cascade and back the next day. There was the Council local which left Emmett Mon-Wed-Fri and returned the next day. I think they overnighted in Council, but their turnaround point was actually Tamarack where one of the remaining lumber Mills NJin the region still exists on US95. The end of the branch used to be New Meadows where I believe the depot still exists, but the end of track had been cut back to Rubicon station just passed Tamarack where there was a eye and propane transfer. Both these jobs ran a pair of GP38-2s. The third job worked out of Emmett and switched the mill there as well as Horseshoe Bend, plus all the industries and transfer to the mainline at Payette. I think this typically got a single GP38-2.
On Saturday nights, UP ran a XNANA Extra Nampa to Nampa from Emmett to Nampa to bring all the power from Emmett to Nampa for servicing and rotate power as needed. This went back sometime Sunday night so Emmett had power for Monday morning.
At least, that's what I remember 30 years later.
