That statement should be rated mostly false. It goes to Claremont, which is beyond Pomona, work is ahead of schedule, and it is not over budget on the current project.

The purpose of this visit and the additional excessive amount of funding being requested is for a one station, "two mile" LRT extension from Claremont (in LA County which is paying for the Gold Line) to Montclair (in San Bernardino County which has said it won't pay for this extension). And, the part that is "true" is that for some reason, some folks in the legislature have decided that this project should be built (regardless of cost effectiveness versus other competing projects, which is not unlike the CAHSRA fiasco...).

The similarities are only around the bizarre amount of political capital being expended, and the need for and the costs of such a "bloated" and "marginal" one station extension to be paid for with State or Federal funding, when the local agency does not support it, regardless of how it performs against the other competing investments?
