Yikes. Pretty "interesting" construction on the new boiler. It would be interesting to see how the engineering pencils out for the giant step in the barrel (instead of a tapered course) with no apparent (from the outside at least) stays or braces on the flat surface.

"Interesting" staybolt layout on the new boiler as well. And it looks like they went with radials, rather than slingstays.

Hard to imagine why a new boiler was needed. The 1912 was out of service from 1915 until the mid-eighties and doubtful the service has been severe since then.
