Have them change to a diesel bus over the Grapevine at Bako, as now.

To deal with that humongous Palmdale Detour PB already wants to increase the speed above 180mph. Some decades ahead PB may have to compete with "green" aviation plus whatever gadgetbahns Elon & Co. can come up with in the interim.

One way this thing could go, altho perhaps not the most likely, is "Stonehenge" #99. Gonna cost some major bucks to subvent those fares and maintain all that hollow core.
