Never Wear Red?

A friend of mine, a computer geek, works for a company which services office computers for a variety of companies. Recently a major western railroad (read: class 1) signed a contract with his firm. As a result, my friend, and others doing maintenance and repair work to computers in railroad offices, had to pass a "RR Safety Exam". (These guys never go near the tracks or rolling stock - they drive to the visitor parking area, get out of their trucks, enter the building, go to the proper office, service the computers, and then reverse that route and drive on to the next service call. They don't work on anything inside locomotives.) My friend, and his buddies, had a lot of problems with some railroad jargon (for example, "fouling points") but that is not why I'm writing. One of the true/false questions was something like "You must never wear red clothing on RR property". The correct answer was TRUE.
So, I ask, have any of you heard of a rule against an employee, visitor, or contract employee wearing a red shirt/blouse/jacket/socks/whatever? If so, why the rule? The only possible rationale I can think of for such a rule is that red clothing might conceal bleeding if there has been an accident, and thus delay medical attention to an unconscious person. Seems a bit far-fetched to me, though.
Any insight appreciated.
Best regards to all.
