While the patronage distributors may be Dems, the actual vendors give money to all sides Despite "prevailing" wage requirements, it is mgmt and the stockholders who gain the most profits, and you can bet they mostly support the GOP.
As an historical note Bechtel which profited nicely from the misdesign of BART included such left wingers as Casper Weinberger.
