Long time AP readers figured this out a couple of years ago. The tank car storage is the difference between profit and loss. Mr. Bosco trying to get the best price for the railroad said as little as possible about income and expences . SMART was unaware that he had hired a part time marketing man years ago that could not find any new rail business. Currently the NWP serves four customers and an occasional lumber load. One of the four customers is closing for good. Hunt and Behrens one of the remaining three will be under pressure to close down due to encroaching high density housing.Who are these people? (SMART board) includes board member Judy Arnold who fought very hard behind the scene to stop the rebuilding of the railroad through the City of Novato lawsuit in 2006 . SMART has done all they can over the years to kill the freight railroad . Now they will pay for the mess they helped create. I think all they ever wanted was control of the line east of Ignacio so they can continue their empire building and get those pesky freight operations out of the way.
