Bennett does NOT truck to Spokane and is not paid by anyone to do so. When they have to they
will truck to their sister mill at the Port of Wilma at their own expense. The BGCM locomotive
in Spokane was from the prior operator Washington and Idaho. One of their units remain at
Belmont in unmovable condition. SS&P is the current operator and is owned by Omaha Track.
W&I was owned partly by the Williams Group owner of Railroad Materials Salvage that operates the STMA and BGCM. The only trucking to Spokane that has ever taken place was for a few years
after the UP abandoned the Tekoa lines when they paid Pea and Lentil shippers to load at East
Spokane. Bennett's has been actively working with several firms on resuming rail service -- at their own expense. The line south of Oakesdale is currently out of service.
