To the handful of folks who keep complaining about this site and urging that it should be shut down, why do you keep coming here? The rest of seem to have no problem ignoring posts containing junk; we choose instead to read the ones that offer meaningful content. If anyone feels like wading through the occasional threads of B.S., be it for a good laugh or whatever, so be it.
AP is somewhat similar to a rail enthusiast magazine, a train swap meet, or a full day at Winterail. It offers a little bit of something for everyone, but not always everything that everyone wants. (Same can be said for other rail sites that charge a membership fee.) Readers flip past magazine pages that don't interest them. And I've seen plenty of people over the years who stepped out during Winterail shows that kept me glued to my seat. We're not all fans of the same facets of railroading.
That being said, yeah, there's a difference between magazine content that one might not appreciate vs. the online posting of material that's annoying, hateful, or flat-out disgusting. But there's also a difference between a magazine or show that costs you money, and a website like AP that charges us nothing to come here.
David, thank you for keeping this place open. If time doesn't always permit you to scoop up every turd pile that lands here, it's not a problem. I think that most of us are mature enough to know how to step around them.
