OK, I know that's possible, but I live next to a double mainline, and over the decades dozens maybe hundreds of trains have gone into emergency here and none have derailed. If their plan was to have a train see a red and go into emergency in the one in hundreds or thousands of chance the train would derail, that's a really bad plan. I feel like something is missing here -- like connecting the shunt to the intent to derail. I don't see it.
